Amongst the madness of fringe, and living like vampires [ minus the virgins ] these bitches are happily nearing the end of their first bottle, and embarking upon a sumptuous seven course tasting menu plus wine matches at the gorgeous Taisteal.

   

Instantly, we love the atmosphere and obvious passion of the staff. Unfettered by the ghastly necessity that is table-flipping, they encourage us to take our time, and fully explore one’s renowned gluttony and adoration of the grape.

A journey which begins with a cheeky glass of fizz, and a show-stopping Pea & Jalapeño Soup with Ham Hock Croquette. Creamy, crunchy, utterly meaty, and with a dash of heat, THIS is a magnificent start!

It’s soon followed by Thai Tartare with Crispy Egg Yolk & Shimeji Mushroom. WOWSERS! While raw meat is a dish that divides, in Taisteal’s very capable hands this delicacy will change your life.

   

Bursting with intense flavour, and beef as tender as it’s possible to get, it’s stunning! We also love the rather lateral “wine” paring – a refreshing margarita with tequila & Yuzu [ that’s Japanese citrus bitches! ]

Moments later, we’re marvelling at the magnificently moist Lobster Ravioli surrounded by creamy bisque & mango salsa. LOUDLY we toast: thank the baby Jesus in heaven we chose the tasting menu!!

Though miraculously, it gets even better with each new course. Hand Dived Scallop with Sweetcorn & Chorizo, fabulously paired with whisky cider – another triumph!

   

Meanwhile the Smoked Duck Breast with Duck Ragu, Sweet Potato & Cherry Jus is the culinary equivalent of the love you never received as a child. The accompanying Romanian Pinot Noir equally as joyous!

This wonderful dish, like every one that preceded it, affirms Taisteal’s inspiring creativity, mastery of sauces, and sheer of generosity of portion. It’s all SO FABULOUS, we’re running out of adjectives.

Five courses in, we’re also running out of room, though bravely we squeeze in the decadent Goat’s Cheese with Apple, Walnuts & truffle Honey. Promptly followed by Pistachio & Cherry Pannacotta with cherry daiquiri & candy floss – LUSH!! 

   

So as we throw back a shedload of muscat, our executive summary is thus: Taisteal boasts exceptional flavour AND value – £55 for 7 courses / £35 for pairings – what more can these bitches say but ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!
